Fieldwork provides you with hands-on experience and the chance to apply theory to practice across various settings, levels, and programs. Whether you are continuing in the field or preparing to advance, please review the information below on fieldwork partnership requirements and site supervisor qualifications.
While students requesting Pre-K-12 placements have their sites coordinated for them by the Office of Licensures and Credentialing, the process differs for students pursuing College-Level placements as they confirm their own placement.
The Office of Licensures and Credentialing will coordinate Pre-K-12 placements directly with school districts and charter school based on what you request each semster.
While you are unable to coordinate a Pre-K-12 fieldwork placement on your own, you are welcome to connect with school counselors directly to learn about their sites prior to submitting your request for the next semester. If you make a connection with a particular school counselor, it is best to encourage them to contact their district representative to request to host a University of Redlands student as all fieldwork placements must be approved by the district.
If you are pursuing a college-level fieldwork placement, you are responsible for identifying and confirming your own site and site supervisor. During this process, you must ensure your identified site has a current partnership with the university (see active partnership list below). It important to be aware that college-level placements require advance coordinator and often involve an application process. You may reach out to community colleges, universities, and other institutions directly.
Prior to each semester, you will indicate to the Office of Licensures and Credentialing the college-level fieldwork site(s) you are pursuing. Once you confirm your own placement each semester, your site supervisor will need to submit the fieldwork site agreement form found under Fieldwork Documents & Forms.
Site supervisors will be required to provide weekly supervision meetings and complete evaluations. In order to be qualified, your site supervisor is required to:
The University of Redlands must have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with your fieldwork site before you can begin. Therefore, when identifying or requesting a fieldwork site, please identify whether the site is one of our current partnership by reviewing our active partnership list.
If you are interested in a school, insitution, or organization not currently partnered with the university, please contact the Office of Licensures and Credentialing (olc@redlands.edu) as soon as possible to request an MOU be established with the site. The process to establish a contractual agreement with a site not included on our active partnership list may take up to a 3-month period.
The Office of Pre-College Programs at CSUSB houses 12 outreach programs serving K-16 students and adult learners throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Fieldwork experiences include 1:1 and group advising and coaching, development and delivery of guidance lessons, assistance with the college entry and financial aid process and so much more!

The TRIO Upward Bound Program at California State University, San Bernardino, is a federally funded program. TRIO Upward Bound works with high school students from the Rialto (RUSD) and San Bernardino (SBCUSD) school districts. Upward Bound at CSUSB empowers students, families, and communities to become self-sufficient through innovative and transformative experiences.

The Riverside City College Career Center, Transfer Center, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division is seeking graduate education counseling fieldwork interns (GFIs) to support college initiatives (student onboarding, retention, persistence, and completion efforts) that promote the holistic academic, career development, and transfer success of RCC students in alignment with RCC’s Guided Pathways Plan. This includes supporting career readiness efforts to increase the obtainment of internships and jobs. Riverside City College offers over 100 programs of study, which include certificates, associate’s degrees, and transfer programs, to 20,000+ students annually. Their college is minority-majority and an HSI, with over 60% of our students identifying as Hispanic/Latino.

The mission of the UCR Office of TRIO Pre-College Programs, Educational Talent Search (ETS) is to prepare and motivate potentially first-generation and income-qualifying high school students to pursue a college education. UCR ETS services 5 high schools in the San Bernardino City Unified School District: San Bernardino High, San Gorgonio High, Pacific High, Arroyo Valley High, and Indian Springs High School. The High School Advisor (HSA) is expected to travel to the target high school sites to meet with participants and provide academic and career/college development through individual and group advising. The HSA is also expected to assist the High School Coordinators & Assistant Director with other programming and data entry.

The Office of Academic Success & Accessibility (ASA) provides valuable resources for college students who wish to become knowledgeable, successful, and take an active role in creating their own education. Fieldwork opportunities often involve providing one-on-one (1:1) support and resources to a diverse college student population and helping those students develop academic and personal skills to succeed.

The Office of Career and Professional Development's mission is to create a university culture that inspires career mindfulness and opportunity from the day of admission to the day of retirement. Graduate Peer Career Educators within the OCPD help all students--undergraduate , graduate, and alumni--with several career-related needs, including the job/career search, graduate school search/application process, interview practice, personal statement writing, and general professional development advice. This position is critical to the implementation of office services.

The Student Success Center (SSC) is an academic advising department at the University of Redlands dedicated to helping undergraduate and graduate students achieve their academic and personal goals. Our mission is simple: Connecting with UOR students to foster academic and personal growth. Fieldwork/Practicum students will work directly with our students providing academic support in 1:1 or small group settings and assisting with administrative tasks that promote student success such as event planning and website editing.
