Graduation Requirements 


School of Education students complete program requirements at various points throughout the year. Students may apply to commence in the academic year in which they complete their program requirements as long as they do so by August 31. University of Redlands' commencement ceremony occurs in April. Students who wish to participate in commencement activities must apply for graduation via Self-Service (Student Planning) by January 31. Plans for completing remaining credits will vary by program, see information below by department. 

Doctoral candidates must successfully defend their dissertation by the last day of the eleventh week of Spring Term in order to be eligible for participation in commencement.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (based on a 4.00 scale) in all graduate work taken at the University of Redlands is required to qualify for a degree.

Department of Teaching and Learning

Teacher preparation credential programs 

  • Student Teaching/Teaching Seminar completed or registered for Spring term 

MALT-610 A/B or MALT 610 planned for Summer term 

All courses planned via Student Planning 

 

Curriculum & Instruction 

  • Remaining courses planned via Student Planning 

  • Transfer credit reflected in Student Planning

Department of Counseling and Human Services

School Counseling 

  • Remaining courses planned via Student Planning 

  • A proposed date for their CPCE exam (or already passed) 

  • Evidence of at least 200 practicum hours completed  

 

 

Clinical Mental Health Counseling 

  • Remaining courses planned via Student Planning  

  • A proposed date for their CPCE exam (or already passed) 

  • Evidence of at least 150 practicum hours completed 

  • A proposed plan/schedule to earn remaining hours by August 31

 

Department of Leadership and Higher Education

Higher Education 

  • Registered for Spring term 

  • All courses planned via Student Planning   

 

 

Education Administration Programs 

  • Registered for Spring term 

  • All courses planned via Student Planning 

 

 

Doctoral

Self-Service Graduation Application Guide

If you will be participating in the April 25th, 2019 School of Education Commencement ceremony, you must complete and submit an Application for Graduation no later than January 31st, 2019. To complete the application, log into Self-Service (Student Planning) and select Graduation Overview

From here, select Application Status and Apply

Complete all field in the application. Graduation term should be the term in which you will finish your program. For example, if graduation term is:

  • Fall 2018, then term should be 2018FAE
  • Spring 2019, then term should be 2019SPE
  • Summer 2019, then term should be 2019U1E

Upon completion, you will be sent a confirmation email.

Request Your Diploma

Confirm your progress in Student Planning indicates complete. Then complete a Degree Sign off request and submit to the Office of Student Success at oss@redlands.edu

Processing time is 7 to 10 days. A complimentary unofficial transcript is sent about 1-2 weeks later. Official transcripts are available at www.getmytranscript.com

A diploma is also requested and mailed to your preferred mailing address on file approximately 3 weeks after conferral. To update your address, contact the Registrar's office at 909-748-8019.
