Research Questions

Research questions addressed by the project included:

  1. To what extent does the Spatial STEM+C curriculum improve the spatial thinking skills of K-5 students?
  2. To what extent does the Spatial STEM+C curriculum increase students’ interest in spatial learning activities?
  3. How do gender, socioeconomic status, grade level, level of initial math achievement, and extracurricular activities affect students’ development of spatial thinking skills relative to the Spatial STEM+C curriculum?
  4. What is the relationship between spatial thinking skills of K-5 students and their performance on computational thinking and mathematical assessments?
  5. What are the key facilitators and obstacles to implementation of a curriculum such as the Spatial STEM+C curriculum?
