Graduate School of Theology presents ‘A Celebration of Joy for the World’ Christmas concert at Marin campus

The University of Redlands Graduate School of Theology and San Francisco Theological Seminary will present “A Celebration of Joy for the World,” a Christmas concert at 7 p.m., Dec. 7, 2019, in Stewart Chapel on the Marin campus.

Honoring the 300th anniversary of the song “Joy to the World,” written in 1719, the Christmas concert celebrates God’s love for the world with an evening of music and singing. Joining the Seminary Singers and Friends, are special guests including Broadway artist Anise Ritchie and the evening’s hosts, novelist Anne Lamott and Rev. Jane Spahr.

“This concert is an opportunity to celebrate not only the joy of Christmas but to share our community’s hope of joy for the world,” says Rev. Dr. Jana Childers, dean of the Graduate School of Theology at the U of R Marin campus. “In recognizing the 300th anniversary of ‘Joy to the World,’ we mark three centuries of this universal wish, expressed through a song that continues to resonate with each generation.”

The Seminary Singers and Friends will also join the New Liberation Choir to perform the Christmas concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at New Liberation Presbyterian Church, 1100 Divisadero Street, San Francisco.

Stewart Chapel is located at the University of Redlands Graduate School of Theology, 105 Seminary Drive, San Anselmo, California.
