The University of Redlands will celebrate spatial learning – the science of where –  research, and community service conducted by students, faculty, administrators, and campus programs at a symposium scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 in Orton Center. Attendance is free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Reception and symposium: 5 p.m.–6:15 p.m.

·         Reception for alumni, guests, and presenters

·         Posters and story maps by students, faculty, and administrators

Invited speakers: 6:15 p.m.–6:45 p.m.

·        “A Year in the Life of a Spatial University” – Kathy Ogren, provost

·       “Changing the World with Maps” – Steven Moore, director, Center for Spatial Studies

·       “Training Spatial Business Transformers” – Tom Horan, dean, School of Business

Presentation of the Tomlinson Prize for Excellence in GIS: 6:45 p.m.–7 p.m.

·        Hillary Jenkins, associate professor of environmental studies, chair of spatial studies minor

·       Douglas Flewelling, professor, director of M.S. GIS Program

Keynote: 7 p.m.–8 p.m.

·      “The Courage to Communicate” – Dr. Dawn Wright, Chief Scientist, Esri
