REDLANDS, California (Feb. 23, 2017)— To encourage productive discourse on campus and in the community, the University of Redlands continues its Spring Political Series with alumnus Lt. Col. Billy Pope ‘01, chief of the Cyber Strategy Branch at the U.S. Air Force headquarters at the Pentagon. Pope will consider the question, “Will the next war be a cyber war?” during his talk at 7 p.m. March 7, 2017 in Orton Center on campus.
Cyberspace underpins nearly every facet of modern global society. Nations, states and individuals alike have grown dependent upon cyberspace. At the same time, cyberspace is wrought with insecurities. Pope will discuss this combination of critical dependency and inherent vulnerability and how it creates security challenges the world cannot ignore.
