REDLANDS, California (April 26, 2017)—The University of Redlands Human-Animal Studies Department invites the community to a free lecture from author and mythbuster Jonathan Balcombe who will offer insights from his latest book, “What a Fish Knows,” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in Gregory Hall 161 on the University of Redlands campus. This talk is free and open to the public.
Balcombe will address breakthrough discoveries from fish enthusiasts and his own encounters with fish, examining the means by which they gain knowledge of the places they inhabit, from shallow tide pools to the deepest reaches of the ocean.
Currently director of animal sentience at the Humane Society Institute for Science and Policy, Balcombe is the author of three books in addition to“What a Fish Knows.” He has appeared on Fresh Air with Terry Gross, the BBC, and the National Geographic Channel and has contributed features and opinions to the New York Times.
