REDLANDS, California (April 11, 2017)—Former National Park Service Deputy Director for Communications and Community Assistance Mickey Fearn will discuss racial equity in the outdoors at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Orton Center on the Redlands campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Before joining the National Park Service, Fearn worked in Seattle as the director of the City of Seattle's Innovation Project, executive director of the Neighborhood Leadership Program, manager of Seattle's Race and Social Justice Initiative and director of communication and citizen engagement in the Department of Parks and Recreation. Fearn also led a campaign to end youth violence in Seattle and developed programs to connect youth with nature.
He currently serves as a board director for Groundwork USA, the City Parks Alliance, the Core Network, North Bay Adventure Camp and on the board of advisors for the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Natural Resources.
