U of R alumna researcher chosen for Sally Casanova Scholarship
Maribel Cruz Reyes '17, a first-generation U of R alumna, has been chosen as a Sally Casanova Scholar. She is one of three recipients at San Diego State University (SDSU )to receive the honor.
Now a second-year graduate student in social psychology at SDSU, Maribel is focusing her research to better understand persistence in higher education with underrepresented minority students. She hopes now to finish her Ph.D. and serve as a faculty member at a "university that encourages teaching with continued research."
Sally Casanova Scholars receive funding for participation in research, graduate school applications, test fees, visits to doctoral-granting institutions in addition to mentorship and other unique opportunities that prepare them to succeed.
