Continuing the revered tradition that for many marks the beginning of the holiday season, the University of Redlands will present the 71st Feast of Lights at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, Saturday, Dec. 1, and Monday, Dec. 3, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 in the Memorial Chapel.
The Feast of Lights is a service of worship celebrating ― in spoken word, tableaux, song and instrumental offering ― the birth of Jesus Christ. Although presentations have differed slightly from year to year, the basic theme has remained constant: the story of the birth of Christ and the symbolic message of the star of Bethlehem as it led the Wise Men to the stable.
Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items to the event. The food will be collected by the Family Service Association of Redlands and distributed to provide a feast in the truest sense to low-income and homeless families in the community.
Tickets are available for sale now at Events Services in the Hunsaker University Center or online at redlands.edu/feastoflights. For more information, call 909-748-8116.
