Tina Tchen, a leading voice in the national conversation on fighting sexual harassment, gender inequity, and discrimination, will discuss her extensive and diverse work at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 in the Orton Center at the University of Redlands. Tchen was instrumental in spearheading the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund which provides legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. She is currently a partner and heads the Chicago office of the law firm Buckley Sandler, where she leads the Workplace Cultural Compliance Practice to counsel companies on issues related to gender inequity, sexual harassment, and lack of diversity in the workplace. She chairs the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc.’s Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion, where she is leading an ongoing review of the various barriers and unconscious biases faced by underrepresented communities throughout the music industry.
Formerly an advisor in the Obama Administration, Tchen was assistant to President Barack Obama and chief of staff for Michelle Obama. During that time, she also served as executive director of the White House Council on Women and Girls, worked on Title IX initiatives, and was instrumental in the formation of the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault.
This event is presented by the Associated Students of the University of Redlands (ASUR), through its annual convocations and lectures series.
