Acclaimed authors and commentators James and Deborah Fallows have engaged young people in a national dialogue about how they are re-inventing their future for both themselves and their communities. The Fallows will speak on “How can today’s young people make a difference?” exploring the obstacles and opportunities that exist for young people in the midst of today’s economic, political, and societal pressures at 7 p.m. Monday, February 19 in Orton Center at the University of Redlands. This event is free and open to the public.
James Fallows is the first Europe editor of The Atlantic and has written for the magazine since the late 1970s; in addition to his extensive national and international reporting, he once worked as President Jimmy Carter’s chief speechwriter. Deborah Fallows is a contributing writer to The Atlantic and author of Dreaming in Chinese. Co-authors of an upcoming book, Our Towns, both James and Deborah Fallows are U of R distinguished fellows and have been awarded honorary degrees from the U of R.
