As we approach the first anniversary of the deadly violence of the Dec. 2, 2015 attack in San Bernardino, the University of Redlands and Redlands Area Interfaith Council encourage those on campus and in the community to unite in peace and understanding at “Bridges of Peace from Shadows of Grief” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19, 2016 in Orton Center. This event is free and open to the public.

World-renowned theologian Miroslav Volf, a public intellectual who has spent his career offering practical and scholarly insights for meeting the complex tasks of gaining peace among conflicting cultures and viewpoints, will lead those in attendance through a time of remembrance and reflection. Volf is known internationally as a “theologian of the bridge.” He is the Henry B. Wright Professor of Systematic Theology and founding director of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture at Yale University.

“When our own personal faith is what gives meaning to our life, and we come to understand that faith for the other is as valuable as our own, we find common ground,” says UR Chaplain John Walsh. “I know of few people who can make this as real as Miroslav Volf.”
