This project has the students research a molecule, print the molecule, and produce a paper/poster/presentation about the molecule.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn the history and function of a biological molecule
  • Understand active sites
  • Learn 3D Printing

Programs Used:

3D printer printing out a chemical model3D Printable Chemical Model from Scratch

This projects has the students use a program called Avogadro to build a molecule, optimize its geometry, then print the the molecule.

Learning objectives:

  • Draw Chemical structures in Avogadro
  • Understand lowest energy configurations
  • Learn 3D Printing

Programs Used:

This project has the students create a small 3D printed data Map book. This book uses 3D printed maps to convey the change in a variable overtime. Please see ACITS member for full guide.

  • Understand best ways to visualize data
  • Explain Data variation over time

This project has the students create a small 3D printed book about their pop culture identity. This book will use 3D printed images to convey information about the creator. Please see ACITS member for full guide.
